Here I blog about writing, editing, reading, books, submissions, freelancing, getting published (and rejected), journalism, revisions, life after the MFA, teaching writing, and living the writer's life. Welcome. BUT -- if you are a writer: Write first, read blogs second.

Rutgers University (Continuing Ed)

If you are a New Jersey writer and live within commuting distance of New Brunswick, you may be interested in working with me through the Rutgers University Writing Program Extension (continuing education).

Memoir and Creative Nonfiction (CO34):  For intermediate to advanced writing skill levels. This course is offered four times per year, in person on the New Brunswick campus on Saturday mornings.  Details here.

If you prefer a one-on-one customized "course" we can work together through the University in two ways:

Creative Nonfiction One-on-One Coaching:  Choose a package of either 5 or 10 coaching hours, which includes a customized instructional plan and weekly feedback/critique, suited to your individual writing skill level and goals. Ideal for more advanced writers working on a longer project(s). Open for registration at any time.  Details are here.

Freelance Writing and Selling:  A 5-hour coaching package that focuses on helping you develop skills to create a freelance writing practice, from idea through to finished article, and includes targeting the right media, contacting editors, interviewing sources, and writing a polished piece.
